Local non-profit raises money for community pool
A non profit group in Desert Hot Springs is hoping to raise enough money to get a local community pool refurbished.
They’re asking for the communitys help in raising enough funds for the project. All Desert Aquatics is working to raise about $30,000 for the Wardman Park Pool project.
Earlier Sunday the group hosted an ice-cream social and swim event to help kick off the fundraiser.
“The layer of finish is so thin that we can’t acid wash again so it has to be torn down and ‘re-shot’ is what we call it…I’ve been here 27 years and I’ll do everything in my life to keep it alive,” said Rene Hickey, president of All Desert Aquatics.
The Wardman Park Pool has been open since 1973 thanks to Frank Sinatra, who was a contributor in building the facility.
