Man found murdered in Desert Hot Springs

(CNS) – Police today had little to go on as far as motive or suspect in the apparent slaying of a man whose body was discovered this morning on a Desert Hot Springs road.

The unidentified man was found unresponsive by officers at about 7 a.m. on Cahuilla Avenue near Palm Drive, where he was pronounced dead shortly after, said Desert Hot Springs police Sgt. Christopher Saucier.

“It appears that it was not a traffic collision,” Deputy Chief Jim Henson told KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2. “The reason it was considered a traffic collision is because there was a bike on the scene and the individual that found the person deceased saw the bicycle and thought maybe it was a traffic collision.”

A homicide investigation was underway, Saucier said, though no suspects have been arrested, and no suspect description was provided.

Police asked anyone with information to call Detective Eddie Cole at 760329-2904, ext. 294.
