9/11 remembrance ceremonies in the Coachella Valley

Monday will mark 16 years since the 9/11 terror attacks. Americans across the nation will come together to honor the lives of those victims.

Here in the Coachella Valley there will be a couple of remembrance services.

City of La Quinta 9/11 Candlelight Vigil

The City of La Quinta will hold a vigil at the Civic Center Park to honor 9/11 victims.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Monday and the public is welcomed to attend.

East Valley Republican Woman/ROC of the Desert

The 2nd annual Day of Remembrance event will be held at 5:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. Monday at the East Valley Republican Headquarters located at 78870 Highway 111 in La Quinta.

The event will include a flag presentation by the Shadow Hills High School ROTC, a lighting of memorial candles along with comments by local officials.

Never Forget Project Memorial and Tribute

The 9-11 Never Forget Project Memorial and Tribute ceremony was held on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park Amphitheater.

It was organized by the VFW Post 3990 Indio in partnership with Young Americans for Freedom College of the Desert Coachella Valley Chapter.

Barbara Keating Remembrance Ceremony

For years after the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, Frank and Bette King have held a remembrance tribute to their neighbor, Barbara Keating, who resided at Canyon Sands in Palm Springs.

Barbara was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center.

The Kings’ memorial tribute for her started with planting a small lemon tree that has now flourished into a large fruitful tree.

The service will be held Monday at 4:30 p.m. Location is the lemon tree at the South-East corner of the front entry of Canyon Sands on Gene Autry and Highway 111.

Palm Springs Fire Department 9/11 ceremony

The City of Palms Springs Fire Department will hold their annual remembrance ceremony on Monday at 5:40 a.m. at Station 442 on 300 North El Cielo Road.

All Palm Springs Fire Department fire apparatus will be in attendance, with a moment of silence will be observed at 5:46 a.m. The PSFD Honor Guard will lower flag to half staff for the day.
