Tire slashing spree causes thousands of dollars in damages
Tire slashing spree leaves dozens of Desert Hot Springs residents with thousands of dollars worth of damage.
The slashing spree happened sometime last night or very early this morning on Hacienda Heights Drive.
Neighbors said that about 30 vehicles were vandalized, some vehicles had multiple tires cut.
“It seemed like almost every car was vandalized. That had at least two wheels slashed so everyone is trying to figure out how to get to work,” said Jose Ramirez.
The majority of vehicles were parked on the street, but some people who parked their cars in the driveway were also victims of the slashing spree.
Most neighbors suspect at least a group of juvenile delinquents are most likely to blame, but others are not so quick to point a finger at teens.
“We can’t blame our kids because we never know, this neighborhood where we live in is Desert Hot Springs, California and there is a lot of stuff going on out here, so we don’t want to blame our kids because it doesn’t have to be our babies,” said Shirley Williams.
News Channel 3 / CBS Local 2’s Joe Galli spoke with neighbors and residents to find more about what they’re going through and what they plan to do next.
