Valley veteran organization collecting donations for Irma victims

A Valley veteran organization is collecting supplies and donations to help those in Florida affected by Hurricane Irma.

Officials with the Desert Hot Springs Veterans of Foreign Wars post, along with the help of VetsLeaf, say they hope to raise $9,000 to help those affected by the storm. They said they also plan on personally driving supplies from California to Florida.

Organizers said along with monetary donations, the post will be accepting the following items:

Brand new clothing, socks and shoes Non-perishable food, pet food and water Flashlights and batteries

Post commander Jeff Horton said the post will be accepting donations until September 30th.
