Palm Springs Mayor to deliver annual State of the City address

Palm Springs Mayor Robert Moon will deliver the annual State of the City address today, providing residents with updates on downtown development projects and other issues affecting the city.

The mayor’s speech — to be delivered at the Annenberg Theater at the Palm Springs Art Museum will begin at 5:30 p.m. Anyone wishing just to hear the address can attend for free.

A 4:30 p.m. reception catered by Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge will be held prior to the address, with cocktails and appetizers for paid attendees.

Tickets for the reception are $70 and can be purchased at http://www.pschamber.org.

The event was also originally going to include a sneak preview of the new Rowan Palm Springs hotel, slated to open this fall. However, ongoing construction led to a cancellation of the rooftop sneak peek, which will be rescheduled for a date closer to the hotel’s anticipated November opening.

Those who cannot attend the State of the City address can view a recording of the mayor’s speech throughout the month of September on Palm Springs Community Television Channel 17 or online here.
