Firefighters contain vegetation fire in Thermal

Firefighters worked to contain a quarter acre vegetation fire that broke out Tuesday morning in Thermal.

It happened shortly after 9 a.m. near 78th Avenue and Harrison Street.

Crews on scene say the fire started from an underground electrical power meter and is said to be suspicious due to the electrical nature of the fire. Someone may have damaged some wires.

Crews were able to put out the fire in 20 minutes.
