Morongo Thunder & Lightning Pow Wow kicks off first day

The 27th Annual Morongo Thunder & Lightning Pow Wow starts Friday at the Morongo Casino in Cabazon.

Admission and parking are free for the three-day, family-friendly celebration of traditional Native American culture through dance, music and art.

Each day is highlighted by the Grand Entry, a vibrant parade of color and sound that features hundreds of dancers in traditional regalia swirling to the music of dozens of competitive drum groups and singers.

Powwow & Indian Market

Friday Sept. 22: 4 pm – 12 am Saturday Sept. 23: 10 am -12 am Sunday Sept. 24: 10 am – 6 pm

Color Guard and Grand Entry

Friday Sept. 22: 8 pm Saturday Sept. 23: 1 pm & 8 pm Sunday Sept. 24: 1 pm

Along with dancers from across North America, spectators will see bird singing and Native American drummers at this alcohol-free event. Dozens of Native American vendors will be on hand selling Indian tacos, tamales, and frybread, as well as authentic Native American jewelry, beadwork, pottery, clothing, and basketry items.
