Palm Desert Whole Foods hit by data breach
Whole Foods in Palm Desert is one of 15 Whole Foods stores in Southern California hit by a nationwide data breach.
According to the Orange County Register, dining venues and taprooms were targeted between March 10 and Sept. 28, 2017, with a number of stores in 30 states falling victim.
Whole Foods said grocery shoppers and Amazon customers were not impacted by the breach.
“The software copied payment card information — which could have included payment card account number, card expiration date, internal verification code, and cardholder name — of customers who used a payment card at these venues,” Whole Foods said in a statement.
Whole Foods said it first learned of the unauthorized access to its systems Sept. 23. The company disclosed the breach to the public within a week.
The company said customers with questions can call 1-888-818-7100.
