Date Festival announces Magic Carpet Music Scholarship winners

Officials with the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival have announced the winners of the Magic Carpet Music Scholarship Competition.

The contestants competed in three categories: vocal, instrumental and composition.

Kevin Morden, a graduate from Shadow Hills High School and current student at UCLA, won the vocal and composition categories.

Daniel Molina won the instrumental round with his piano performance.

Each winner received $1,500 in scholarships.

The 2018 Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival runs from February 16 – 25. Watch Morden and Molia perform on February 19.
