New Year’s Eve storm won’t dampen celebrations across the Coachella Valley
The Coachella Valley could be seeing some rain during the New Year's weekend, but it won't put an end to celebrations. The First Alert Weather Team has called a First Alert Weather Alert for Saturday and Sunday.
Lights, stages and booths were set up for Agua Caliente’s New Year’s Eve Block Party in Palm Springs.
“If you look around you, you'll see all the efforts that are going into making the spectacular all the heavy equipment, putting things together. It's truly spectacular," said General Manager Don Ayres.
With rain on the way, Ayres tells us it won’t put a damper on the celebration.
“Rain or shine. This event is gonna go on. If New York City can do it in freezing cold and rain, we certainly can do it here in Palm Springs.”
Ayres says they’re prepared for any kind of weather.
“We have some tents and we have some measures for that happens. But I have a good feeling we're gonna be just fine.”
He tells us it’s an annual tradition that’s been going on since 2015 and doesn’t plan on ending it anytime soon.
“It's important for our community to get together and celebrate the New Year and the prosperity for the year to come. And we want to continue that tradition no matter what," Ayres said.
