Woman hospitalized after reported shooting in La Quinta

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has released more information on a shooting reported over the weekend in La Quinta.

On Saturday at 11:50 p.m., deputies responded to the 79000 block of Fred Waring Drive west of Dune Palms Road for a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found shell casings and a victim who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries due to the assault.

Indio Police Department also responded to the scene and informed responding deputies that the assault victim, a 21-year-old woman from Indio, had sustained a gunshot wound.

She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

RSO first told News Channel 3 that deputies they received numerous calls of a man banging on residential doors and hiding in bushes in the area. No suspects have been taken into custody and no additional victims were found.

A police helicopter was seen canvassing the area around the time of the shooting.
