Indio man identified as person found dead inside vehicle on dirt road near I-10 at Chiraco Summit

Edward Gonzales, a 60-year-old man from Indio was identified as the victim.
Riverside County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the death.
UPDATE 7/26/23 5:17 p.m.
A person was found dead today in a vehicle on a dirt road by Interstate 10 near Chiriaco Summit.
Officers responded at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday to a call about a vehicle in the desert, north of I-10 and east of Chiriaco Summit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
By 3:51 p.m., a coroner was called to the scene for at least one person who was without a pulse, according to the CHP. The vehicle was stuck on a dirt road running parallel to the freeway.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Dept. determined that the vehicle was not involved in a crash. A spokesperson for the agency confirmed there was no evidence of foul play.
The Coroner's Office is investing the circumstances of the death.
