RSO deputy injured in crash in Thousand Palms, driver arrested on suspicion of DUI

A Riverside County Sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a two-vehicle traffic collision in Thousand Palms Monday night.

The crash was reported at around 9:07 p.m. near the area of Ramon Road and Via Las Palmas.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash is considered a near head-on collision as both parties swerved to correct out of the collision.

A deputy suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to a local hospital.

The other driver was detained, the agency confirmed. CHP said they also suffered minor injuries. They were ultimately arrested on suspicion of a DUI.
