Tri-Palm community clean up continues

Residents at the Tri-Palms Estates and Country Club are still cleaning up the aftermath of Tropical Storm Hilary.

Neighbors are removing the thick mud with shovels, brooms, buckets and wheelbarrows.

Jimmy Taylor, a 30-year resident of Tri-Palm, is determined to cleanup his driveway although it is a hassle.

“I'm going to be 79 and I have no business out here doing this but it has to be done. And I'm able to do so," said Taylor.

Still, Taylor has empathy for his neighbors who cannot do the same.

“It's sad. It really is. Because there's so many of us that are single or elderly and they just don't have the resources to take care of things, you know, and to do it yourself," said Taylor.

Taylor's neighbor, Patricia Lenhardt, felt a little more prepared than most due to her midwestern roots.

"Hey, you got to deal with it…I'm used to this stuff, because I come from Illinois and we had stuff like this. So to me, it's nothing," Lenhardt said.

Lenhardt is now offering a helping hand to her neighbor who is not able to clean up his driveway.

“He’s a veteran and he’s disabled so he can’t do it. So I figured I’ll get it cleaned up so they can get in and out," said Lenhardt.
