ATLANTA (AP) — Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has taken the witness stand to deny two of the allegations against him in a Georgia indictment accusing him of participating in an illegal scheme to overturn the 2020 election. Meadows’ hearing on Monday in Atlanta is to determine whether he should be allowed to fight his charges in federal court rather than state court. Meadows says the actions giving rise to the charges occurred as part of his official duty as chief of staff. Prosecutors say his actions were political in nature and meant to keep Donald Trump in the White House. The judge didn’t immediately rule.
