KESQ

Nine students at Indio Middle School were transported to the hospital with various stomach issues, the Indio Police Department confirmed to News Channel 3.

First responders were called to the school, located on Miles Avenue, at around 1:20 p.m.

Ben Guitron of the IPD said several students reported getting sick.

A preliminary investigation reveals that the students might have eaten something that was not prepared at the school.

Guitron said none of the illnesses are life-threatening.

Police are working with the Desert Sands Unified School District Officials to determine the exact cause of the illness. We've reached out to the district for additional information.
