Over 1,000 IID customers lose power in Indio

KESQ

An outage knocked out power to more than 1,000 Imperial Irrigation District customers in the Indio area today in the morning, but most had their electricity restored by noon.

The utility alerted the public shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday that 1,290 customers were affected by the outage.

By 11:36 a.m., power was restored to 1,091 customers, IID officials said in a statement. Estimated restoration time as crews worked to repair the outage for the remaining 275 customers on Doctor Carreon Boulevard was up to six hours.

The cause of the outage was also not immediately known.

The IID provides electricity to more than 150,000 customers in parts of Riverside and San Diego counties, and all of Imperial County.
