Cooler and windier conditions this weekend

Temperatures reached a record-high of 108°F yesterday but cooler conditions are on the way this weekend. The ridge of high pressure that brought us record-breaking heat is now pushing east. This shifting high pressure system is allowing for a cooler air to move in.

A cooling trend is expected to start this weekend but it will take some wind to get us there. Breezy and at times gusty conditions are expected for Saturday and Sunday. Peak winds will occur during the afternoon and evening hours with gusts that could exceed 30 MPH.

Here is a look at what winds speeds ae expected to look like around 5PM Saturday:

At this time, there are no watches or warnings posted for this weekend's winds. However, The First Alert Weather Team will continue to monitor air quality and visibility across the valley as wind remains a factor.

The cooling trend will continue through the beginning of the work week. Temperatures will fall below the seasonal average (89°F) by Monday with overnight lows in the 60s. Fall-like conditions will be returning to the valley soon!
