City Council gets a look at new progress on College of the Desert Palm Springs campus

The Palm Springs City Council received an update Thursday night on the status of the long-awaited College of the Desert campus in Palm Springs.

Interim Superintendent/President Laura Hope and Director of Education Center - West Valley Dr. Scott Adkins led a presentation, which featured the most updated construction renderings of the campus that is set to be developed at east Tahquitz Canyon Way and South Farrell Drive.

The meeting also highlighted input on the plan received by College of the Desert officials from city leaders, staff, and the public. Major themes include the phasing and future development as well as environmental strategy. 

The West Valley campus has faced multiple delays for more than a decade now, but is construction is currently expected to start late this year, with the first students expected to be welcomed in the spring of 2027. The budget of the total project stands at an estimated $400 million.
