Palm Springs International Airport restores terrazzo flooring at main terminal building
Big changes are happening in the main lobby of the Palm Springs International Airport.
Crews worked overnight for around a week to uncover and restore terrazzo flooring that was hidden beneath decades-old carpeting, according to Jake Ingrassia, PSP's communications & marketing specialist.
The work was highlighted in a timelapse shared by PSP.
Ingrassia said the flooring is not original to the historic Donald Wexler building built in 1966, but it does date back to a remodel in the 1990s.
"The terrazzo flooring is designed in the shape of a compass rose, complete with arrows indicating the true directions. It’s all-natural stone, polished to perfection – no waxes, acrylics, or resin coatings, just a stone sealer for protection," Ingrassia wrote. "We thank our dedicated crew for bringing back this beloved piece of PSP."
