News Channel 3’s Karen Devine inducted into Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame
News Channel 3 evening anchor Karen Devine was inducted into the Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame!
"Over her 30 years in this business, Karen has covered many stories, uncovered many valley issues won countless awards for her work. Two Murrows, half-a-dozen Emmys, two Golden Mics. She's been inducted into the Emmy's Silver Circle in 2019. And those are just to name a few," said Rich Tarpening, News Channel 3's Assignment Manager.
"And at the end of the day lets not forget who we are as journalists. We are here to hold people accountable to investigate stories to uncover the truth to help make change and to listen to listen," Karen said in her induction speech.
The Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame was created by the Coachella Valley Journalism Foundation to recognize the commitment of local media professionals.
"Local news organizations play a critical role in creating community. Writers, reporters, editors, broadcasters, photographers, and videographers chronicle our collective experiences, shine a spotlight on unsung heroes, keep watch over government officials, expose wrongdoing and delight us with stories about everyday life. They educate, engage, entertain us, and help us make sense of the world around us."

Each year, three to five individuals will be inducted into the Hall of Fame to recognize their commitment to the profession and the impact of their work on the community.
2024 Inductees:
- Karen Devine, anchor and investigative reporter at KESQ
- Bruce Fessier, former Desert Sun entertainment editor, columnist and reporter
- Frank Jones, owner and publisher of Palm Springs Life.
- Milton Jones, owner and publisher of Palm Springs Life (posthumous)
Honorees are selected by The CVJF board of directors, but the public is encouraged to suggest individuals for future consideration. Just send an email to cvjournalismfoundation@gmail.com nominating a worthy individual.
One of News Channel 3's own was also honored during the Coachella Valley Media Hall of Fame luncheon on Wednesday.
Assignment Manager Rich Tarpening was awarded Journalist of the Year by the CVJF.
