Cooler Weekend Before Seasonal Warmup Next Week

We're getting a nice August break from the extreme heat, with temperatures staying slightly below average through the weekend as highs hover around the lower 100s.

A little monsoonal moisture will keep things feeling somewhat humid and bring a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms to the mountains and nearby deserts today and Saturday, though anything that develops should be light and isolated. Really the valley is looking very nice for Weekend 2 of Splash House.

The moisture begins to fade Sunday as conditions gradually turn drier. High pressure builds back in next week, warming us near our seasonal 108-110 by mid next week. The tradeoff with the returning heat will be noticeably drier air and lower humidity across the Coachella Valley. But changes nonetheless!
