Updated Friday post:

On Friday, Verizon announced its engineers had resolved the outage issue as of 12:30 p.m. Officials with the company encouraged customers, who were still experiencing issues, to restart their devices.

Updated Thursday night post:

Verizon released a statement to News Channel 3 on Thursday night, which said in part:

"A fiber cut is causing a disruption in service for some customers in the Coachella Valley. Our engineers are engaged and working quickly to resolve the issue. Please note, customers may still be able to dial 911, as these calls may complete over another provider’s compatible cell network — regardless of whether or not that person is a customer. As a secondary measure, we have enabled the rerouting of 911 calls to the Indio Police Department administrative line."

Original Thursday post:

911 lines were down for several hours throughout the Coachella Valley. Emergency services were restored by 2:25 p.m. in Palm Springs and Indio.

The Indio Police Dept. announced that its 9-1-1 lines were back for all residents except Verizon customers. If you are a Verizon customer, dial 760-391-4051.

A spokesperson for the city of Indio said they were told the issue might've stemmed from fiber being cut in Bloomington out in San Bernardino County.
