The Onion’s bid for Alex Jones’ Infowars hangs in the balance as judge orders new hearing

A federal judge in Texas has delayed a hearing in conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ effort to stop the satirical news outlet The Onion from buying Infowars and turning it into a parody. Jones alleges a bankruptcy auction was marred by fraud and collusion. The judge was scheduled to hear an emergency motion Monday to disqualify The Onion’s bid, but he instead said it will happen in December. Jones filed for bankruptcy after being ordered to pay nearly $1.5 billion in defamation lawsuits by families of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut. The Onion was selected as the winning bidder over a company affiliated with Jones.
