Coachella Valley joining national day of action honoring John Lewis
CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. (KESQ) - Residents across the Coachella Valley taking a stand Thursday, joining a nationwide call to action. It's part of “Good Trouble Lives On”, a movement honoring the legacy of civil rights icon John Lewis, and shining a spotlight on the continuing fight for equality and justice.

“I want people to take away Lewis was a Lion in the Congress and he left us with a charge, to do the unfinished work. Today, I think it’s most relevant to continue his legacy and his mental.”

Attendees also giving back. Organizers collecting food donations for TODEC to help support immigrant families.
“What we’re seeing today is people collecting food because right now unfortunately, people aren’t able to leave their homes and unable to get food. We’re seeing cuts to food-banks, SNAP.”

Organizers say events like this send a clear message: the fight for justice is far from over.
“We have to show up, we have to do the work and it’s not easy, it’s not pleasant at times but when you show up, you’re going to have your brothers and sisters to help you and it’ll be much easier.”
