Firebirds outlast Stars in 7-round shootout

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) -- The Coachella Valley Firebirds defeated the Texas Stars on Wednesday night at Acrisure Arena in a shootout by the final score of 3-2.

Logan Morrison tied the game with 28 seconds left in regulation and Nikke Kokko stopped all seven shootout attempts to seal Coachella Valley’s 10th win of the year.

The Firebirds outshot the Stars 43-29.

The Firebirds now hit the road for a four-game trip.

The team will play two games in Abbotsford against the reigning Calder Cup champion Canucks and then two games in Calgary against the rival Wranglers.

Coachella Valley returns home on Wednesday, Dec. 17 to host the San Jose Barracuda.
