Local fighters looking forward to historic boxing event at Acrisure Arena
COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (KESQ) -- A pair of local fighters are set to take the ring this Friday for the first boxing event at Acrisure Arena.
Golden Boy Promotions presents Rocha vs Curiel | Flores vs Chavez. This is Golden Boy's first event of the 2026 fight calendar and will feature nine bouts.
Coachella native Manuel "Gucci Manny" Flores will co-headline the card against Jorge "El Nino Dorado" Chavez in a rematch from their controversial draw in July at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
This super bantamweight bout between Flores and Chavez will be 10 rounds.
The 27-year-old Flores is 20-1-1 (16 KO), while the 25-year-old Chavez is 14-0-1 (8 KO).
Rising star Cayden Griffiths is the other local fighter on this Friday's card.
The 19-year-old welterweight is 6-0 in his professional career, all wins coming via knockout.
Both fighters are trained by Diaz Training Camp in Indio.

This historic boxing event starts at 1pm on Friday. Doors open at 12:30pm. DAZN will begin their broadcast at 5pm, showcasing three of the nine scheduled fights.
The earlier schedule is meant to accommodate a global audience.
