Firebirds defeat Silver Knights 4-3 on the road

THOUSAND PALMS, Calif. (KESQ) – The Coachella Valley Firebirds are back in the win column once again, looking to restart their streak, with a 4-3 win over the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday.

The teams went back and forth all night, tying the game and reclaiming the lead. They remained fairly evenly matched, especially in shots on goal with Henderson at 32 and Coachella Valley at 26, but the Firebirds were able to get just one more netted to take the win.

The first period was all Henderson as the Silver Knights were the first on the board with a goal netted by Dylan Coghlan at 19:33.

Coachella Valley came back quickly at 1:21 in the second period to tie the game with a goal from Jani Nyman for 1-1. This was Nyman's tenth goal of the season with the Firebirds.

Coghlan came back for his second goal of the night to regain the Silver Knights' lead, but it didn't last long as Ville Ottavainen and Jagger Firkus added two more goals for the Firebirds to close the second period scoring with Coachella Valley up 3-2.

Henderson was able to score one more goal before the end of the night at 0:38, but Coachella Valley's Andrei Loshko sealed the deal with a final goal for a 4-3 win. The Firebirds defense held off the Silver Knights through the end of the third period to ensure they made it back to the win column.

The Firebirds and Silver Knights will play one more time on Saturday at 6 p.m. PST before Coachella Valley heads back to Acrisure Arena on Feb. 13.
