Hot & Very Muggy Across the Desert through the Week

The Coachella Valley was added overnight to the Extreme Heat Warning. The big story today is just how humid it has become. Monsoonal moisture has surged into the desert, sending dewpoints skyrocketing and making our already hot temperatures feel even more uncomfortable—that's likely why we ere added to the warning.

Highs hover around 109–111° through the end of the week, about 2-3 degrees above average, with overnight lows only dropping into the mid to upper 80s.

The combo of heat, humidity and very warm nights will keep HeatRisk in the major category across parts of the Valley. The increase in monsoonal moisture will also bring a 15–25% chance of afternoon thunderstorms over the mountains Thursday and Friday, although the Coachella Valley itself will likely stay mostly dry. Thursday and Friday will likely continue to be quite muggy for us.

Temperatures ease only slightly heading into early next week, with another surge of monsoonal moisture and better thunderstorm chances possible around Monday.
