Firebirds sign goaltender Logan Terness to one-year deal

PALM DESERT, Calif. (KESQ) - The Coachella Valley Firebirds signed goaltender Logan Terness to a one-year American Hockey League contract. 

Terness, 23, begins his second professional season after spending the majority of the 2025-26 campaign with the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks.

The Burnsville, Minneapolis native appeared in two regular-season games with the Firebirds after signing a professional tryout agreement (PTO) with the club in April, posting a 1-0-1 record, a 2.00 goals-against average, and a .946 save percentage.

In the ECHL, Terness held a 21-3-0 record, a 2.26 goals-against average, and a .913 save percentage in 24 regular-season appearances with Kansas City, helping the Mavericks reach the Kelly Cup Final. 

Prior to his professional career, Terness spent two seasons at the University of Connecticut before transferring to Ohio State University for his final two collegiate seasons. During the 2024-25 campaign, Terness earned Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors after posting a 12-10-1 record, a 2.46 goals against average, and a .917 save percentage.

Before beginning his collegiate career, Terness was named the 2019-20 British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) Rookie of the Year while playing for the Trail Smoke Eaters.
