Hot with Scattered Mountain Storms Through Saturday

It's a hot, muggy, and stormy Thursday!

We're looking at above average temps through Saturday, with highs around 100–103.  So far we've had an active day of thunderstorms is possible over local RivCo mountains and High Desert. After today's storms along Highway 74, Yucca Valley and Twenty-Nine Palms, the valley itself should remain mostly dry, though gusty outflow winds and blowing dust could reach desert communities. An isolated storm or shower isn't out of the question.

Tropical moisture from Hurricane Polo begins moving north this weekend, bringing increasing clouds, cooler temps and noticeably higher humidity for the low desert.

Temperatures should ease up a bit Sunday into Monday as a upper level low moves into the Desert SW, but widespread rain is not likely locally. A few showers or thunderstorms could still develop near the surrounding mountains, particularly Sunday and Monday. Drier air and a warming trend return mid to late next week.
