Hispanic Heritage Month: Lorena Marroquin

INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) - It's time to highlight trailblazers in our local Hispanic community. Today, we're focusing on a leader at the Find Regional Food Bank.

Lorena Marroquin is a Coachella Valley native and is at the helm of one of the desert's most important food banks.

As you can expect-- feeding tens of thousands of people every day is no easy task! And on top of that -- Lorena is a proud and hard-working mother!

"For me, it's empowering in this space. Um, I work with an amazing group of leaders. A lot of Latinos in this organization that are giving back to communities, so it feels great to be in this seat. But it also is something that reminds me of where I come from, and not forgetting where I come from," Marroquin said.

The Find Regional Food Bank distributes more than 28 million pounds of food each year, serving an average of 120,000 people per month.
