"He said you get in," said Debbie Woulfe.

Debbie Woulfe is haunted by flashbacks from Friday's carjacking in Palm Springs.

"I can't sleep," said Woulfe. "It was awful, I am beside myself."

Just minutes before this wrong way crash on I-10...

Woulfe, who works for the Mizell Senior Center, was driving this van.

She was delivering for Meals on Wheels for seniors, homebound due to the coronavirus pandemic

Woulfe told News Channel 3 that she was delivering one of her last meals at Rancheria Del Sol, an apartment complex in Palm Springs before her work van was taken.

"Hit the window and said this is not your van," said Woulfe. "He was sitting in the front seat already holding the steering wheel. I said this is not your van get out and he looked at me really weird and I said where do you think you're going, he said I am going home, I said get out."

Woulfe said she refused to get in and the man quickly speed off in the van.

Palm Springs police say 43- year old Richard Hamilton was driving erratically. Even heading westbound against traffic on I-10 before crashing head-on into another vehicle.

"When I saw the pictures I am like oh my god it could have been me crunched up like that, I don't know...," said Woulfe.

Executive Director of Mizell Senior Center, Wes Winter also relieved nothing more happened to his employee, Woulfe.

"There are always people out there that you need to be careful of and this happened to be one of those people," said Winter. "We are hoping this never happens again and we are hoping for the best and we're going to be talking about measures to prevent this."

Woulfe said she learned an important lesson through this terrifying ordeal.

"I never ever leave the car running like that again," said Woulfe.
