Winds pick up as temperatures drop
This weekend was a warm one here in the desert. The high temperature in Palm Springs hit 99° Saturday and climbed a degree, reaching 100° on Sunday.
We've been dealing with a ridge of high pressure that's been causing these above normal conditions, but low pressure is about to shake things up.
Winds are beginning to pick up this evening due to a trough of low pressure dipping further south. A Wind Advisory has been put in place for areas of Southern California, including the Coachella Valley. This begins Monday afternoon and runs through Tuesday morning.
Along with the winds, this low pressure system is going to cause temperature to drop significantly starting tomorrow. We're welcoming the 80s.
Temperatures will warm back up near seasonal average by the end of the week and into next weekend.
