Camera catches thief stealing gardener’s truck while on the job

The local community is coming together to help a gardener who had his truck stolen while working at a home in Desert Hot Springs Thursday morning.

The theft was captured on a surveillance camera. It shows the gardener, identified as Jaime Franco, walking to the home with a tool in hand. Seconds after Franco entered the home to work on the yard, a thief breaks into the truck and drives off.

Franco's tools were also in his truck, everything he needs to continue to be able to run his business.

The Desert Hot Springs Police Department confirmed they are investigating the theft. Anyone with any information can call police at (760) 329-2904. Call Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867 if you wish to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, a loyal customer started a GoFundMe to help Franco during this tough time.

"Anyone that knows Jaime knows that he works hard for his family, and this is a devastating occurrence to happen at any time," reads a post on a GoFundMe page started by a loyal customer.
