Overturned trailer causes backup on 10 freeway

Westbound lanes have been reopened on the 10 freeway near Whitewater after an overturned trailer ramp caused backup.

California Highway Patrol dispatch said the No. 1 and 2 lanes on westbound 10 are closed near the Whitewater rest area after a trailer ramp overturned. Initial reports said a big rig truck overturned, but CHP dispatch said it was only a trailer ramp. CHP officers are on scene of the accident.

The call was received just after 7 p.m., according to the CHP incident log. No injuries were reported.

Viewers calling into the KESQ and CBS Local 2 newsroom said traffic is backed up heading toward Cabazon. One caller said it took him an hour to get to Cabazon.

Westbound lanes were reopened by 11 p.m.
