Two-car collision occurs near vigil for earlier death

Authorities were on scene of a two-car collision Sunday evening in Desert Hot Spring where a pedestrian was killed less than 24 hours earlier.

Viewers who sent pictures into the newsroom said the collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Palm Drive and Camino Aventura. That’s where a vigil was being held for a teenage girl who died Saturday night when she was hit by a car.

Pamela Carrillo, 17, of Desert Hot Springs was killed in a collision Saturday at the same intersection.

Desert Hot Springs police said no one was seriously hurt in Sunday’s collision. It was unrelated to the vigil for Carrillo.

Cal Fire, Riverside County firefighters and California Highway Patrol were on scene with Desert Hot Springs police during the investigation.

A GoFundMe.com page has been set up to raise money for Carrillo’s funeral expenses. You can find that page here.
