Car strikes fire hydrant in Palm Desert

A car struck a fire hydrant near Varner Road & Washington Street, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident was reported at 8:45 a.m. this morning.

CHP & Riverside County Fire are currently on the scene.

Flooding was relatively minor thanks to a water pressure mechanism which was triggered in the hydrant. No injuries were reported. Traffic is not being affected by the incident at this time.

According to CHP, the car was a Hyundai.
