Local athletes honored at sports luncheon
The power of sports and the lives it has changed was the point of focus at the 4th annual Boys & Girls Clubs of Coachella Valley Sports Heroes Luncheon.
The luncheon was held Tuesday afternoon at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. 22 Coachella Valley high school standouts and numerous professional athletes were honored.
Super Bowl X MVP and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Lynn Swann was a guest speaker of the luncheon.
“The most important thing is the kids who believe in trying to provide a brighter future. to have a place to go, if they don’t have a safe place to go to,” said Lynn Swann, guest speaker and pro football hall of fame inductee.
The money raised at the event goes to youth development programs at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coachella Valley.
