Multiple emergency agencies rescue hiker in Desert Hot Springs

A hike was rescued in the mountains near Smokewood Circle & Ardo Road in Desert Hot Springs at 12:45 p.m, as confirmed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The rescue call went out at 8:55 a.m this morning.

The hiker was injured and stranded on a ledge in the Bryce Canyon hiking area. He called 911, and emergency personnel responded. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Desert Hot Springs PD, Cal Fire, the Morongo Fire Department, and American Medical Response are on the scene aiding with the rescue efforts.

Emergency responders know the general location of the hiker and are working to get the proper resources in order to conduct the rescue. As of 12:10 p.m., emergency responders were still working to make contact with the hiker and were expected to reach him by 1 or 1:30 p.m.
