Fire Crews Stop Forward Spread of Vegetation Fire

Firefighters have stopped the forward spread of a vegetation fire burning in Coachella.

Cal Fire says the fire is now 10% contained and that resources will be committed throughout the day.

The fire broke out at 4:38 A.M. near the 46600 Block of Tyler Street. The fire quickly spread from 2 acres to 10 acres. CAL Fire says it had to the potential to burn up to 50 acres.

Power lines were down earlier this morning and Imperial Irrigation District crews were on the way to fix them.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
