Victim identified in fatal Palm Springs motorcycle crash

Authorities today released the name of a Northern California man who was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a car in Palm Springs this weekend.

Richard Lowry, 77, of Sebastopol, was struck at about 9:35 p.m. Saturday at South Palm Canyon Drive, south of Sunny Dunes Road, Palm Springs police said.

Lowry was riding a Slingshot three-wheeled motorcycle when his bike was struck by a Chevrolet sedan, authorities said.

Lowry was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Chevrolet driver was not injured. It did not appear drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, police said.
