Jury to enter 9th day of deliberations in Pinyon Pines triple murder trial

Yesterday, the jury in the Pinyon Pines triple murder trial requested that the testimony of Sara Honaker, the ex-wife of Robert Pape, be read back in the jury room by the bailiff. Today, the jury did not stir, but still, no verdict emerged in the trial of Robert Pape and Cristin Smith.

Cristin Smith and Robert Pape are both charged with three counts of first-degree murder with special circumstance allegations of taking multiple lives. They face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of killing Becky Friedli, her mom, Vicki Friedli, and the latter’s boyfriend, Jon Hayward, on the night of Sept. 17, 2006.

Tomorrow, the jury will return for its ninth day of deliberations. The case has been in their hands since May 23rd.
