Four local baseball standouts selected in 2018 MLB Draft

Four local baseball players saw their dream become a reality on Wednesday as they were selected in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Below are the players and their draft selection with a statement on what the moment was like for them.

3B SEAN ROBY (Shadow Hills HS, AZ Western)
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS – 12th Round, 346th Overall
“It’s a great feeling I’m excited my dreams are coming true. It means the world to me it’s hard to explain how I feel at this point.”

SS CLAY FISHER (La Quinta HS, UC-Santa Barbara)
BALTIMORE ORIOLES – 12th Round, 355th Overall
“Playing professionally has been my dream my whole life and I can’t thank the Orioles enough for giving me the opportunity. I’m excited to head to the east coast to get this journey started. Go O’s!”

SS TRAVIS MONIOT (Palm Desert HS, U of Arizona)
CHICAGO WHITE SOX SOX – 17th Round, 498th Overall
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to become a part of the White Sox organization. The culture they are creating there is something that I’m excited to be a part of in a city that has a lot of historical wealth. I’m very humbled by the opportunity.”

UT JONATHAN CUEVAS (Palm Desert HS)
MILWAUKEE BREWERS – 32nd Round, 965th Overall
“This is what I’ve worked for since I was 9 years old, so for me to get drafted, it’s a dream come true and means the world to me and my family.”
