Court will not go on record in Pinyon Pines murder trial today, deliberations continue
The court will not go on the record today in the Pinyon Pines triple murder trial. The jury will continue its deliberations.
Yesterday marked the 9th day of jury deliberations in the Pinyon Pines triple murder trial.
But the most noteworthy news from Wednesday didn’t come from closed-door discussions of the ten men and two women who hold the fates of Cristin Smith and Robert Pape in their hands but from a bit of information released by a Riverside District Attorney public information officer.
Inimically, the PIO announced that the court would be going on the record Thursday morning. The announcement marked a major anomaly in a case that has seen steady stagnation over the past several weeks.
The purpose of today’s events related to a jury question about Cristin Smith’s initial interview with detectives in 2006. The jury wanted 11 more copies of Smith’s interview transcript. The judge responded that the transcripts are just an aid and that the audio of the interviews is in the evidence.

Judge responded: “Ok, you are reminded that the audio is in the evidence and transcripts are only an aid.” It was not done in open court. &#lt;a href=”https://t.co/SX6s85v8bx”&#gt;pic.twitter.com/SX6s85v8bx&#lt;/a&#gt;&#lt;/p&#gt;– Jeremy Chen (@JeremyChenKESQ) &#lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/JeremyChenKESQ/status/1004772938157993985?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”&#gt;June 7, 2018&#lt;/a&#gt;&#lt;/blockquote&#gt;n&#lt;script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″&#gt;&#lt;/script&#gt;n”,”width”:550,”height”:null,”type”:”rich”,”cache_age”:”3153600000″,”provider_name”:”Twitter”,”provider_url”:”https://twitter.com”,”version”:”1.0″}

They face life in prison without the possibility of parole if convicted of killing Becky Friedli, her mom, Vicki Friedli, and the latter’s boyfriend, Jon Hayward, on the night of Sept. 17, 2006.
