Firefighters battling 2 acre vegetation fire in Thermal

Firefighters are on scene of a 2 acre vegetation fire in Thermal.

The fire was reported at the intersection of Van Buren Street between Avenue 62 and Avenue 66 at around 9:30 p.m.

According to Cal Fire, the fire is approximately 50 feet x 50 feet burning in tamarisk trees.

Fire crews on scene said the fire is approximately 2 acres. The cause of the fire is still currently under investigation.

45 Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and 13 engines have been assigned to the fire. A crew member said at 11 pm they will be on scene for several hours.
