Aguanga wildfire scorches 20 acres, 85% contained

A wildfire that broke out near the Cahuilla Indian Reservation in south Riverside County has burned 20 acres and is 85 percent contained as of 7 a.m. this morning.

The so-called “Bridle Fire” was reported just after 5 p.m. Thursday in the area of Bridle Trail Road and Crazy Horse Canyon Drive, north of state Route 371, in the unincorporated community of Aguanga, according to Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The fire is not posing an immediate threat to homes or other structures, she said.

Early reports said the fire had burned 45 acres, but updated mapping of the area put the number of acres burned at 20, said Cabral.

More than 150 firefighters, including 26 engine crews and two hand crews, battled the fire, she said.

Along with county fire crews, Hemet Fire Department, San Diego County Fire Department and Murrieta Fire Protection District personnel were deployed to the fire.

There was no word on what sparked the blaze.
