Pedestrian injured after major traffic collision in Palm Springs
A major traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle left one man injured Saturday night, according to Palm Springs Police. Officers said it occurred in the 1100 block of N. Indian Canyon Drive just after 9:15 p.m.
Officers said the initial investigation revealed that a GMC SUV was traveling southbound on N. Indian Canyon Drive and struck a male pedestrian. The male pedestrian was outside a crosswalk and was walking westbound across N. Indian Canyon Drive. Officers said the male pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The man driving GMC SUV was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
Officers said at this point in the investigation, it did not appear that drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
There was a full road closure was several hours for the northbound and southbound lanes on N. Indian Canyon between Tachevah Drive and Mel Avenue. Officers said the roads reopened at around 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning.
