Local art gallery hosts silent auction to support separated migrant families

A local art gallery hosted a silent auction on Saturday in hopes of raising money to help support parents who have been detained due to the President Trump’s new immigration policy.

The art was supplied by local artists looking for a way to help families affected by the policy, and the event was organized by two local art gallery owners, Simeon Den and Karen Riley, who said they’re just trying to help in any way they can.

“I hope to achieve that people feel like they are a part of the solution. Not just feeling it, but actually being a part of it and contributing and actually having that continue to spread […] that the community feels they are giving back,” said Den.

“It’s important for people to say this is not supposed to be happening and we need to do something together about it,” said Riley.

All funds raised on Saturday at the silent auction will be donated to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services.
